Dutchman Hospitality: Raising The Bar

For years audiences flocked to the Ohio Star Theater (located within the Carlisle Inn Sugarcreek) to enjoy Broadway-caliber performances in an intimate, in-the-round venue. The wholesome, Amish-themed story musicals were a delight for couples and families, as they represented an ideal alternative to mainstream entertainment while paying respect to Amish culture.         The shows regularly sold out, leaving some visitors with a missed opportunity to enjoy a performance.
The success of the shows prompted the Dutchman Hospitality team of owners to build a large, stand-alone, state-of-the-art theater on the same campus as the Carlisle Inn Sugarcreek and Dutch Valley Restaurant.
After much thought and planning construction of the new Ohio Star Theater began in the summer of 2016 and on April 1, 2017 the new theater hosted Guy Penrod for their first show.
The size of the new seating area has created the perfect venue for musical acts and concerts. Speaking engagements and comedic performances round out the traditional musical-style, Broadway-level shows the theater has become known for.
It’s worth noting that the sound system in the theater was built from the ground up and the building constructed around it — not the other way around.
A perfect way to enhance your visit to the Dutch Valley Sugarcreek campus, the new Ohio Star Theater joins Dutch Valley Restaurant, Dutch Valley Market, Dutch Valley Gifts and the Carlisle Inn Sugarcreek — all in one convenient location. Packages for accommodations and the theater are available.
Musical guests share a faith-based message, with gospel and contemporary Christian artists planned. Shows each year include returning favorites along with inspiring and entertaining new works designed to keep guests both entertained and engaged.
To those who visit the area, Amish culture may be a bit of a mystery. In association with Blue Gate Productions, the Ohio Star Theater draws people in for a closer look and better understanding, courtesy of the Broadway-style shows based on Amish novels. Tickets can be purchased at the box office inside the theater, or online.
