August 25 marks the date of the fourth annual United Way Rock-N-Run sponsored by the Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union.
A kid’s dash beginning at 6:30 p.m. kicks off the evening, followed by the 5K run and one mile run/walk at 7 p.m. A DJ will be on hand to spin those favorite tunes. The United Way Rock-N-Run is part of the Tuscarawas Valley Challenge and Subway Challenge Series.
Race day registration starts at 5:45 p.m. for those not preregistered. The Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union on Fillmore Avenue in Dover is the starting and ending point for the events. Awards and door prizes will immediately follow the race.
“This year we have added a kid’s dash to the event schedule,” said Fred Weingarth, United Way vice president. “We want the Rock-N-Run to be an evening the whole family can enjoy.”
According to Weingarth, “The United Way is very grateful to the Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union for being the corporate sponsor again this year. Their sponsorship, along with those of many other area businesses, gives us a great start to our fall fundraising campaign. We also want to thank the many community volunteers who have signed up to help at this year’s event.”
The one-mile run/walk is free this year for participants who do not want a race shirt.
In order to guarantee a race shirt, registration must be done by Friday, August 17.
Online registration is available at www.ohioch allengeseries.com, www.tuscunitedway.org or www.dover-philafcu.org., and mailed to the United Way, P.O. Box 525, New Philadelphia 44663.
