Running An Old-fashioned General Store
by ohiosamishcountry.com

Running an old-fashioned general store sure takes a lot of ingenuity. My family and I are always looking for authentic ways to bring the past alive for our customers. For example, just a few weeks ago we finished a storefront facelift that took half a century off the building. We researched what Lehman's looked like in 1955 through old photographs and newspaper articles. And then we recreated that look, complete with a retro gas pump from that era and a 1955 candy apple red pick-up truck.
In the past year, we have also added a new line of high end grills and outdoor furniture on our patio; a massive assortment of treats and candies from yesteryear; a Soda Pop Shop with over 220 varieties of soft drinks; a toy loft with Legos, puzzles, board games and all the favorites you remember from your childhood; and a new Lehman's Outlet (just across the parking lot from the store, in the space formerly occupied by Hearthside Quilt Shoppe and Needle Nook).
With a food preservation class scheduled on August 25 (from 1:30-3 pm, $10, call for details); and grillling classes with Old Carolina Barbecue almost every Thursday, there are dozens of new things to see and do in our very old store. You can get the latest information on what is happening when you visit http://www.Lehmans.com/calendar, or give us a call at 1-888-438-5346.
