Taking a “break” on Friday mornings
by ohiosamishcountry.com

Every Friday morning at 8 a.m., the staff at Homestead Furniture takes a much-anticipated break. It’s not that owner Ernest Hershberger works his employees so hard. They do that on their own.
No. Every Friday employees take turns bringing in “break” for the entire staff. "Break" is synonymous with “breakfast.” At least, that’s what the spread looks like. Employees bring in homemade breakfast casseroles, fresh locally grown fruit, fruit and vegetable pizza, homemade pastries, donuts and mint tea or some kind of fruit juice.
It’s a way for the staff to relax, enjoy one another’s company around a meal, and ready themselves for the day ahead. The break lasts for 30 minutes until the store opens at 8:30 a.m.
It is just one more reason employees at Homestead Furniture in Mt. Hope love their jobs. We hope it shows as we greet our great customers. We also hope we don’t have an egg on our face, literally.
