Breitenbach Wine Cellars is having their annual Labor Day Party Sept. 1 at the new Roadhouse Amphitheater and all of the proceeds are going to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society. The location is at the old Alpine Hills, which is just 100 yards east of the winery on Old Route 39.

The day begins at 11 a.m. with family games such as a hot dog eating contest, a Frisbee game for the dogs, Rover Says, and a people barking contest. At noon the registration for the dog show begins. The categories are: You’re so ugly you’re cute, Owner/dog look alike, Prettiest female, Handsome male, Smallest dog, Biggest dog, Senior Citizen, Best Costume, Twins, and Best Trick. Dogs may be entered in as many categories as the owner would like. A donation will be asked per category. All donations are going to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society. “The vision of the Tuscarawas County Humane Society is to create a community where all animals receive appropriate care, love and attention at all times; are treated with dignity and respect; provided necessary veterinary care; and protected from all forms of cruelty, abuse and neglect.”

Prizes will be awarded to the winners. Prizes are donated by Breitenbach Wine Cellars of Dover, Petz Place and Coulter’s Dog and Hunting Supply both from New Philadelphia.

Registration for the first PAWSitively Extreme Race begins at 3:30. The 5K course has stations of exercises along the hilly course. The challenging course can also be walked with the dog. A registration fee will be charged. For the fee, participants get a T-shirt, Park Street pizza and a chance to win prizes.

At 7 p.m. a U2 tribute band will be performing. ONE: A Celebration of U2 have crafted their stage show to bring the music and spirit of their favorite band to U2 fans everywhere.
