On Saturday, August 18, The White Savage outdoor drama will close its 16th summer season and outdoor drama officials are offering a special closing night price of just $5 to all those who purchase tickets in advance of August 18.

The White Savage is the story of Simon Girty. Whether just or not, Simon Girty was labeled a savage because of his strong alliance with the Native Americans and the British during the American Revolution.

Stories of his conquests and ferocity spread throughout the colonies and frontier, bringing fear to all along the frontier in the late 18th century. However, while his loyalty to the Native Americans and his savagery in battle was legendary, soon the myth overwhelmed the man.

Girty was a very complex, three-dimensional man - as fierce as any Indian warrior, yet still willing to put his life on the line to plead for strangers’ lives. Girty is a very misunderstood man thrust into an extraordinary and explosive situation. With the death of Col. Crawford in 1782, he became from that moment, Simon Girty, The White Savage.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see The White Savage before it closes for the summer. Advance $5 tickets can be purchased from now until 5 p.m. August 17 at the Tuscarawas County Welcome Center on East High Avenue in New Philadelphia, at the Trumpet in the Land administrative office from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, or at the Trumpet box office from 2-8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Tickets purchased after August 17 or at the door will cost $10.
