The Dominic Greco Concert Band, under the direction of Frederick Delphia, will conclude the 2012 summer concert season at Tuscora Park on Friday, August 17, beginning at 7 p.m.
The season’s finale concert will feature several of the most requested numbers played throughout the summer, along with new arrangements never before performed by the Dominic Greco Band. Polkas, overtures, Dixieland, vocal and instrumental features will be part of this season’s closing 2012 program.
According to Delphia, the concert will begin with Somerset March, followed by the music from the Godfather movie trilogy. Vocal soloist Ron Barkett will take center stage to the popular Cry Me a River, and God Bless the USA. A Dixieland combo will front the Greco Band in a familiar medley of New Orleans favorites. Amber Pottmeyer will demonstrate her amazing playing skill on flute, to the Carmen Fantasy. The concert will close with the often requested selection from the Christmas in July concert, Stars and Stripes for Christmas.
“Our closing performance always has special meaning to us,” said Delphia. “We have had a wonderful season with this band, which has numbered nearly 100 volunteer members. This is a very large band for a community band, and it says a great deal about the musical talent we have in our area.
“I hope to have a large crowd for this Friday evening concert to honor the dedicated Greco Band musicians, for the time and talent they have shared with our audiences. It will be a wonderful evening of entertaining concert band music,” the director concluded.
