Wendell August has had a great summer
Wow....I can't believe we are already into August. It's seems the older I get, the faster time flies. It has been a great summer here in Amish Country at Wendell August Forge. If you drive by, you'll see our Water Tower is under construction. They are doing a great job of sand blasting and getting it ready for a brand new paint job! I can't wait to see it when it's done.
Although it's been a dry summer, I actually feel like it's been a real summer. One like I remember as a child growing up in this area. They were always hot and long, and we lived at Lake Buckhorn or in my parents pool to keep cool. (I didn't have air conditioning growing up. But of course after all of the kids were grown and gone, my parents got central air!! Go figure.)
I keep reading the paper and watching the news, and I'm saddened by the different tragedies and natural disasters that keep popping up. Senseless shootings, wild fires, publicly endorsed bigotry, and I feel a sense of helplessness sometimes. You wish you could just go out and help those in need where ever they might be. Well, Wendell August has decided to help out in our own local community. We want to give back here where it affects us the most. Throughout the month of August, bring in either 4 new School Supplies or 4 Non-Perishable food items, and we will give you a $10.00 coupon to spend at the store. All donations received will be given to the Love Center Food Pantry in Millersburg, Ohio to help out families in need here in Holmes County. I hope that we get alot of participation. They say it starts with "one". Change one person's mind, help one person in need, and you can change the world. Their world.
We look forward to seeing you this month.
Thanks so much! Melissa
