With chilly temperatures chasing most of us back inside and the ongoing pandemic restricting social enjoyment, we might be wondering what the heck we’re going to do with all of this newfound free time. The easy answer is to book at stay at the Carlisle Inn Sugarcreek, or the Carlisle Inn Walnut Creek, where you’ll be treated to a wildly festive array of holiday decorations, comfort foods, entertainment, and creature comforts you can’t find at home.

As one of Amish Country’s official staycation destinations, Dutchman Hospitality’s properties — which include both aforementioned inns, restaurants, and a gift shop, theater, market, bakery and more — show no signs of slowing down. In fact, said Vicki VanNatta, public relations coordinator for the company, winter is when Dutchman properties really start heating up.

“We have people call us to find out when our decorations will be up,” said VanNatta. “The inns are beautifully decorated for Christmas. Everywhere you look there is a festive touch, and you can really feel the spirit of the season in the air. We welcome visitors to plan their getaway here and immerse themselves in everything we have to offer. It’s a very special time of year.”

The pent-up demand for travel means people are still looking for ways to get away from it all without having to fly. “We offer the escape they’re looking for, the gorgeous surroundings and the five-star service they crave,” she promised.

“Whether you choose to stay at the Carlisle Inn Walnut Creek, or the Carlisle Inn Sugarcreek, you’ll be treated to the scent of fresh-baked cookies and popcorn filling the air, along with a free, deluxe continental breakfast,” she said. “And our Sugarcreek inn boasts an indoor pool and hot tub.”

Within steps of each inn you’ll find the Dutch Valley Restaurant or Der Dutchman, both of which are owned and operated by the group. On the Sugarcreek campus, a bakery, gift shop, market with fresh deli meats and cheeses, and the Ohio Star Theater round out the appeal.

VanNatta said the Dutchman Hospitality team is hard at work putting the final touches on the entertainment calendar for the remainder of the year. And while show status may fluctuate with government mandates, the team is confidently planning a wonderful season of entertainment. Here’s just a sample of what you’ll find.

The GÜT Life! With the Yoders and Nick
