James Allen once said, “Dreams are the seedlings of realities.”
There may be no finer example of what nurturing the seeds of dreams and harvesting those dreams into realities can produce than the expansive Experience Hartville campus located in Hartville, Ohio.
What began as a livestock auction by Sol Miller 83 years ago, and later developed into a flea market, and has moved to be part of an impressive 200-acre campus, which hosts not only an outdoor flea market but also the Hartville MarketPlace, Hartville Kitchen Restaurant & Bakery, The Shops at Hartville Kitchen and Hartville Hardware.
Miller cultivated his dreams through a strong work ethic, faith and caring for others. Those attributes have been passed down over four generations and continue to evolve under the leadership of the extended Miller family.
Named one of Ohio’s Best Hometowns, each year visitors come to Hartville to experience all the campus and the village have to offer. “A visit to our campus is a generational experience,” Christa Kozy, Marketing and Group Tours Coordinator for Experience Hartville said.
“Grandparents love bringing their grandchildren here. The experience is a throwback in time for them and a whole new experience for their grandchildren,” said Kozy, noting that a visit to the campus is never the same experience twice.
Outdoor Flea Market
Treasure hunters and bargain seekers alike can find delight in exploring 12 acres of possibilities while browsing vendor booths at the Outdoor Flea Market. With a wide variety of offerings that range from brand new to vintage, antique and everything in-between, the Hartville Flea Market offers something for everyone. A popular draw during the featured farmer’s market on Saturdays is the site for fresh local produce and outdoor plants.
Hartville MarketPlace
For those who prefer shopping indoors, the Hartville MarketPlace offers three acres of unique shopping opportunities, all under one roof. “The shops located within the MarketPlace are all locally owned and operated, many carrying exclusive brands and offering something for everyone” said Kozy.
Hartville Hardware & Lumber
For the home improvement specialist, do-it-yourself enthusiast, or lady of the house, a stop at Hartville Hardware & Lumber is a must. With an impressive footprint exceeding 305,000 square feet, the Hartville Hardware proudly carries the title of ‘America’s Largest Hardware Store.’
“People often marvel that our hard-ware store is like the FAO Schwarz of home improvement,” said Katherine Merkle, Marketing Director for the store.
Visitors can browse the 1,830-square foot Idea House located inside the store, and view the latest trends in floor plans, interior design, and home décor. Created to provide inspiration and design influences, the Idea House features items that can be found right in the store to create the perfect look and feel for your home.
During the holiday season, the impressive Christmas Shop is a sight to behold, filled with everything to make your home festive and bright, from traditional favorites to the newest in holiday décor trends, trees, wraps, and more.
Hartville Kitchen Restaurant, Bakery and The Shops at Hartville Kitchen
No visit to Experience Hartville would be complete without lunch or dinner at the Hartville Kitchen Restaurant & Bakery. “The restaurant has become a favorite among visitors due to our homestyle cooking and everything being made from scratch,” said Kozy.
The restaurant offers seating for over 400 and is naturally designed for social distancing while providing an environment of family togetherness. With eight banquet rooms for private events, the Hartville Kitchen will celebrate its 20th year of hosting dinner concerts in 2022, a favorite among locals and visitors.
The onsite bakery is the perfect after dinner stop, offering fresh baked goods that include a generous selection of breads, rolls, cookies, several varieties of homemade pies and more. The recent addition of the Cucina Oil & Vinegar tasting room is a foodie’s delight.
For additional unique shopping opportunities, visit The Shops at Hartville Kitchen. Each specialized shop provides a wide variety of specialty items including the Ladies Boutique, quality jewelry and accessory brands like Brighton and Pandora, Candy Shop, and a Toy Shop upstairs.
